Start your day on the right foot: prayer.

Study a little: even if you read only fifteen minutes.

Keep yourself informed about what is happening in the world, through newsfeeds or newspapers, even if you only browse the headlines.

Talk with your conscience – even if briefly.

Smile to your spouse; kiss your children, or your dog, if you don’t have children. Cheerfully greet subordinates, co-workers and superiors.

Accomplish what the voice of your heart asks of you: a kind word, a friendly email or phone call, a simple offer to help a co-worker, someone on the street, or a stranger in a social event.

Life is full of thousands of little nothings, which, added up, form everything.

Do not wait for miracles to happen: make your life happen.

Do not postpone happiness: make it happen now, spreading tenderness and affection, goodness and service, unfettered, without prejudices, or limits.

This way, you will be happy

To succeed more often and fail less, it’s necessary to consider and make use of four gnostical filters:

1) The paradigm of happiness;
2) The paradigm of totality;
3) The paradigm of peace;
4) The paradigm of love.

If these four epistemological-perceptive patterns are properly used, with balance; one will certainly be in an excellent path toward goodness, in a route endorsed by the Divine Flux.

However, one must be daring. When we are called out, by the voice of the conscience and of the ideal, to execute something, it urges that we realize it, even without having full confidence we can make it well. And who could claim such level of certainty about one’s excellence? Wouldn’t full certainty indicate presumption? Who is absolutely qualified to perform any role? Every professional makes mistakes, no matter how responsible and capable he is. As much as the person is prepared, always something remains out of their studies, their training, that only practice will confer upon them, in terms of having learned – even because practice, itself, is the most transforming, brilliant and profound form of knowledge; only experience conveys the title of “expert” to someone, in any area of knowledge.

Because we cannot achieve a level of excellence in altruism, does it follow that we have to stop living the excellent standards of service to others? And while the perfect note of charity is not within our reach, are we going to renounce living good levels of achievement in the field of being useful to the social group? And if we cannot personally achieve ideal levels of spreading kindness, are we going to give up unfolding our regular efforts of caring? And even if our regular efforts of benevolence are far from becoming a daily practice, are we going to avoid doing what is good sporadically, intermittently or precariously?

It is by persevering with the possible that we will conquer the impossible. Let’s start now with what is feasible, exercising our own abilities, and, one day, we will be able to unfold what today is just probable, but not very plausible.

Human concerns usually are so vain, so unnecessary… We should put ourselves at a higher perspective. From above, problems can be seen in their real dimension: much smaller than they first seem to be when we are immersed and close to them. And placing ourselves in a higher angle of observation is to think about the goals that are worth to focus on. It is to take the viewpoint of timeless and collective issues: the essential values of life such as family, spirituality, knowledge and happiness.

Let’s ask ourselves: “In one year’s time, what bothers me now will still be bothering me then?” If we answer that probably not, then the matter that afflicts us is secondary and we should not give it the importance we currently are giving, because we will be just reinforcing what should be forgotten, after we assimilate the essential lessons it may be offering.

Are you depressed? Work for a good cause. Are you hurt, angry, or afraid of the future? Work, extending benefits to others. Afraid of betrayal inside your family? Fearful of treachery in the workplace? Work, even more, to extend progress and well-being to entire groups.

In any contingency, under the weight of any problems, work continuously and carefully on the blessed chores of charity, and the gears of the service – specially when performed with a true desire to be useful – will:

- Unlock the rusty pulleys of your psyche, pointing you towards fair, realistic and attainable solutions to your troubles;

- Or the simple change in perspective, resulting from focusing your mind on other matters will allow you time and opportunity to perceive the issue at hand as a non issue;

- Or your issues might be solved by the power of circumstances or other unexpected factors beyond your control.

Get therapy, pray, meditate and plan ways to solve your case. Nevertheless, keep yourself busy in constructive activities because working for a good cause is always source of divine action and resolution in our lives; developing, healing, purifying and transcending everything.

So much unnecessary fear! Tackle one problem at a time, or all at once, if you can’t avoid the series of attacks life presents you. But do not accept any excuses, that come up to your mind, to move away from the essential disciplines, commitments and responsibilities to which you feel to be attached.

If you keep yourself unwavering, in the line of duty, at the height of the worse crises, you guarantee the solidest security you can conquer for yourself: the imperturbability of the self-possessed soul, for what it has determined essential.

Therefore, do not ask for the difficulty to leave: ask the strength to come; and, principally: strive to develop it, and the permanent gains with temporary adversities will be so great that you will thank God for nurturing you with so much good, from so little evil.

Contradiction: for the stubborn and lazy intelligence.

Confusion: for the dull and poor intellect.

Ambivalence: for the experienced soul that sees beyond the appearances – the essence of things.

What do you perceive, dear friend? How do you feel the world?

Around you, the complexity may sound as an invitation to work and to reflection, to creativity and to insight. Or, on the contrary, it may lead you to desperation and fear, anguish and boredom.

Before the flurry of questions that surround your steps, asking for answers, avoid, with all your strength, the escape through addiction, through unbridled consumerism, alienating fanaticism, and through the shameful simplifications of the scientific field. Face the extent and deepness of your problems, seek for authoritative help, meditate, reflect, pray and wait…

How do you react to the world? Thus you are.

How do you build your reactions? Thus you will set your future.

Would the heart be present, though?

So much thought, clear thinking, objective data, logic!

However, where is the feeling, with ethics, consciousness and value judgment?

Watch, friend, that your efficient thinking does not be a mere calculation; and do not lose yourself in the processing of the data, oblivious to wisdom, letting life go by, compromising your future and anguishing your soul!

Put God in your heart.

Imprint solidarity to your acts.

Impregnate with love your purposes and projects.

In doing this, you might feel alive; and, perhaps, find happiness!

Take humankind as your family and Spirituality as your goal. This way, you will have a large margin of maneuver, to move and adapt yourself at any crises or needs of change.

Detach yourself from fears, forget about conventions and try to be happy.

Do not attach yourself to people, neither to situations, but always do the best you can in all circumstances.

Renew your spirit of daring, in the fulfillment of your ideals.

Work, persistently, to bring to life your fair, benevolent, humanitarian projects.

If you do that, you will live. If you do not, your body will be alive, but your spirit will be in a state very close to death; even worse than death though, because it will be the death of the soul, that does not really die, in the sinister life of deeply experiencing its own inner decadence.
