The result of a conduct guided by decency toward one’s fellows, coherence with oneself, devotion to God through the fulfillment of one’s vocation.

Father Gustavo Henrique

Intelligence and creativity, sportsmanship and tranquility in the effort to offer the best of oneself to the common good, fulfilling the purpose designated by a Higher Force for one’s existence, within or outside of material bodies.

Dr. Temístocles

Be yourself, without hypocrisy, focused on your ideal. Other than that, my dear, you are…— a censored word that I refuse to replace with an elegant substitute.

Roberto Daniel

The careful orchestration of the whole psychological constellation so that each sub-personality component of the Total-Self has the opportunity to manifest itself through the priority filters determined by the Divine-Self, the ultimate Center of the individual. The playful or spoiled child, the hungry but pure animal, the nurturing and inspiring femininity, the brave and executive warrior, all concatenated by the inner sage.

Dr. Demetrius

To have the heart tuned with Jesus through the continuous and varied practice of charity toward any of the Lord’s creatures.

Sister Brígida

To be practical in attending to the various dimensions of oneself – physical, psychological, professional, social – with balance and with reasonable or even modest expectations, so that worldly ambitions or narcissistic fantasies do not replace the principle of prioritizing what matters above all: the aspirations of the immortal Spirit – the essence of the human being. In this way, as Jesus taught, all other things will be added.

Lucas Desiderium

To always speak the truth to oneself, to dose the truth to the conditions of perception of each person, to hide the truth from perverse and cynical creatures. And, as the main goal of life, seek, with passion and perseverance, higher levels of truth, because personal truth, which is invariably relative, distorted and limited, does not dispense the endless contributions of spiritual evolution in infinite degrees toward the Eternal and Absolute Truth of God!…

Egberto de Alexandria

Devotion to the family, be it the biological one, one of the close friends, or the whole humanity at the level of understanding of this concept that one has.

Elvira Dias

Not to obey external expectations but to the calls of one’s own nature or personal mission. And to meet, with courage and determination, all the demands resulting from the inevitable and systematic adversities that arise for those who have the audacity to not give in to morals or dominant values, in a certain time or culture in which they are inserted.

Renato Otaviano

To be logical enough to understand that logic does not embrace all the complexity of life and that only by opening up to the suprarational is it possible to have a more realistic and complete notion of the inextricable subjectivity that permeates God’s Universe. In short: to adopt a worldview that includes the Divine in Creation. Or you will have to face the anguish of chaos and meaninglessness of life and the substantial insignificance of your own existence, the total lack of value of your consciousness…

Clóvis Mozart Teixeira

Self-knowledge and everything related to it: psychotherapy, the study of spiritual matters, engagement in support groups for the concretization of projects concerning the impulses of the soul that one feels to be fair and good.

Dr. Lidiane

Daily prayer, attendance to a religious or spiritual group of one’s preference, weekly therapy, daily practice of the Gospel, and… sense! — What Jesus called “watch,” because it is always very easy to let ourselves be seduced by the vagaries of the moment…

Maria Luíza

Full dedication to that which one believes, perceives, or intuits to be the Will of God for oneself, an understanding that must be continuously adjusted in accordance with the new knowledge and experiences that one accumulates over time. The Will of God, if correctly interpreted, necessarily represents the best for the individual and for the collectivity.

Matheus-Anacleto

A universal right, a duty to oneself, a karma-challenge for the most lucid souls, a thermometer that signals the right path to follow. But it will never constitute immediate, constant or irresponsible joy because only by striving in the search for transcendence and attending to the calls of love, through the channels of wisdom and service to the common good, can one really be happy!

Eugênia-Aspásia

Discriminated People and Conventions (Short Answers from the Spirits – 07)

Benjamin Teixeira de Aguiar
by the Spirit Eugênia-Aspásia

Q – Edna: Could you explain to us the parable of the Good Samaritan?

A – A very appropriate question, Edna. Edna is referring to a passage from the synoptic gospels in which there was a bloodied man, in need of immediate relief, in what we could call a common path. At that time there were roads that were almost invisible; they were more like travel routes, imaginary paths used as travel routes, because the roads similar to what we know today, though still very rudimentary, were to appear with the Romans in Ancient Rome.

At the time of Our Lord Jesus, in that very poor and primitive route, which was no more than an open space where traffic could flow, linking these two small urban conglomerates, there was a sufferer. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

And Jesus says that a Samaritan, Samaria was a condemned region, Edna, a region of abjection, an execrated nation – just as we sometimes have divorced women (there’s still those who think like this; a complete nonsense) homosexuals, black people, people of social and economic inferior classes considered inferior, because we’re only thinking in terms of income, endowment, possessions, properties, all this perfectly forgettable when we’re disencumbered from our physical body. Thus, there is an extreme inconsistency with this point of view. When we see priests and doctors of the law, we are representing allegorically two large groups: those who represent the power of the state and those who represen the divine power – State and Religion, the power of politics, economy and society and the power of religion. And we see those who are condemned: those who believe in reincarnation, who are conventional spiritists or ourselves, spiritualists in general, we are seen in a very suspicious way, looked askance, by those who are more dogmatic. We are the Samaritans.

But our Lord Jesus points out that the Samaritan, by being good, was the one who showed love for his neighbor, the one who was serving the common good, the one who was not biased, even because he himself was also focus of taboo and discrimination. He was the true brother, brother in God, brother in Christ. It is a great exhortation to forget conventions as the absolute dictators of our conduct. Conventions have to be respected on what they have of constructive, e.g. table manners, so we don’t behave as animals, beasts at the table.

By no means should we stop following the guidelines of social etiquette; it is not hypocrisy, it is the first step to true politeness, the one that comes from inside. Therefore, etiquette will no longer be needed when we are extremely loving and spiritual, but while we are not, we need to acquire and deepen the positive elements of convention. But although conventions can offer guidance, they should never castrate. That’s why our school of thought…

Thank you Edna for your question which was inspired by a spiritual agent of our group, while you were still at home. Although Benjamin was unaware of your question, what we very much prefer… no one please inform Benjamin regarding any question so we can have more freedom to speak for ourselves without any interference of his views or opinions, although very respectable ones).

Returning to our point, in our school of thought, we do our best to propugn – I’m not using this word by chance, propugn comes from the Latin pro-pugnare which means propose to fight – against all forms of prejudice. Unfortunately, to fight against prejudice is litotes – an affirmation expressed by means of a negation. To fight against prejudice could very well be said as: to live love, to be fraternal, to be Christian.

But we have been saying this for twenty centuries, and the crowd, the mob, (Benjamin doesn’t like these words being said by a lady, but I am a very severe, strong and assertive lady… so, now that I have his permission…) the mob, ignorant, stubborn, and obstinate, should be tenacious, not necessarily stubborn. The mob vitiated and frequently vitiating because it transfers its vices to their children in a perpetuation of collective madness… that which Jean-Yves Leloup called Normosis, the madness of the majority.

To combat prejudices is to live fraternally, is to live christianly, is to live the best side of ourselves. It is to be loving, no matter one’s social or economic background, sex – women are still very discriminated though many of them may not realize – no matter whether we are using a male or female body; no matter which are our sexual preferences or what’s the concentration of pigment in one’s skin; no matter what our level of formal or academic education is, no matter our fortune or our income, no matter what our surname is or how beautiful the biological machine we use while incarnated. There are people who are discriminated because they are experiencing the test of ugliness, but there’s also the very difficult probation of extreme beauty which misleads people much more than ugliness for being much more revealing.

So when one is born without financial resources, without an impressive beauty, without wealth that draws attention, without opportunity to get educated, one is hardly tricked by the shameful stinginess that still pervades humanity on Earth. But we will win, and we are already winning, gradually but effectively, century over century, dear friends, because we already have hospitals, orphanages, nursing homes, liberating schools of thought like this one, we have justice and law that slowly but progressively become more attuned with the democratic ideals as explained in this evening’s lecture.

Sex, Aggressiveness and Their Relation (Short Answers from the Spirits – 04).

Benjamin Teixeira de Aguiar
by the Spirit Guide Gustavo Henrique

Q: Delano Mothé: Could you make a comparative study on sexual attraction and aggressiveness?

A: The Spirit Eugênia is helping me with this question. Regrettably, there is in human nature – and psychoanalysis is rich in this particular matter – very deep connections between sexual aggressiveness (this is so true that the expression was created) and non sexual aggressiveness, because sexuality happens to be a waste pipe, a drainpipe to aggressiveness, but sexuality could express itself apart from aggressiveness.

Some people, mainly men, when in a non aggressive posture, lose sexual attraction. That’s why, my dear friends, sometimes you are in a loving and peaceful period in the relationship with your spouse and they become sexually colder. It’s because they have no reason to want to punish you through sex – that is what men unconsciously feel. The male sexual organ has a function similar to that of a weapon with which he imagines himself to be hitting his prey or his element of punishment.

It’s not every man who has the emotional and unconscious maturity to understand sex as an instrument of giving love and not of punishment. Regrettably, the same happens with some women – not so much, but it still does. It happens less in women, so that when they are upset with their spouses, partners, boyfriends, etc. – because now there is this modern mode. Isn’t it Delano? Unmarried people having sex (I’m joking, my friends. Have sex at will! Not totally at will! It cannot be totally at will, or it would be the beast turned loose in the city. It can’t be this way; we have to control and educate the inner animal.).

So, when a woman is upset, she doesn’t feel like having sex, while the man barely finishes arguing and he is already ready for sex. It’s to seal peace, he says. Do not believe him; he wants to punish her, to punish them.

Some men will be upset with me, Delano, because I exposed them in public. What happens is that unconsciously men discharge their rivalry and conflict with the female element through sex, therefore when they are tense they have sex to feel relaxed while women need to relax in order to have sex.

Benjamin Teixeira de Aguiar
by the Spirit Eugênia-Aspásia

Q: I would like to know why Jesus sometimes asked people to spread the news of his miracles and other times he asked just the opposite.

A: Indeed, there are some contradictions, not only in the biblical text as a whole but in what concerns the New Testament and now alluding particularly to the four synoptic gospels, because I believe Delano was referring to the classic gospels. Am I right, Delano?

Delano, when Our Lord Jesus in his gospels sometimes asked that certain revelations didn’t happen, he was referring to specific contexts of people, not only the one who received the miracle but also those – we will use the words freely – miracle should be understood here as a prodigy performed by Our Lord Jesus, involving some laws of nature, not yet apprehended by human science on the physical plane on Earth, in its current level of advancement.

Anyway, we will use the words freely. We ask our friends to, please, make their own interpretations and adaptations to our choice of words, choosing the ones that please them most, so that we won’t waste our time with semantics, since the polysemy of words often times makes it difficult to have an interaction with good communication. It’s just that in this case, given the depth of the question, we should not worry so much with this linguistic and etymological focus.

Back to the point, Delano, the miracle, the prodigy or the extraordinary healing took place in different contexts. Sometimes the beneficiary of these deeds had a strong urge to feel too special, maybe assuming they had qualities or virtues that justified the gift coming from a higher power. These people, particularly these people, that suffered from an inflated ego – that is why we were talking about the ego before your question, Delano, and of its inflation – inflation, and not properly growth as complexification of the soul, as advancement to higher levels of perception.

Exactly because of that, because these people were suffering of an ego inflation and not of an expansion of conscience towards the perspective of the self, because of this very complex issue that has very serious and destructive implications in one’s growth process, in the awakening of one’s conscience, in the reaching of higher levels of values and feelings above all, Our Lord Jesus proposed a test: do not speak, save it for yourself, feel thankful within yourself. To you whose ego asks you to tell it to everybody so you can feel special, Jesus said: keep silent.

Other individuals with a different psychological profile, Delano and our friends that listen to us, had a natural urge to save only for themselves the exceptional blessing of the grace received, as if they were avaricious with the celestial blessings, as if they told themselves: “I will keep the gifts from heaven to myself and the ones I love and I won’t share them with others, so I won’t be criticized, or misunderstood, I would rather – since I am a more mature person, I understand I will profit nothing by making it public – I would rather hide it. Why expose myself?

This voice of the ego that Temístocles, other master from our group, calls old ego – the ego of older people or at least an egoical system found more often in older people – says: “never mind, think of yourself first, let it go, why show off, take care of you and your own matters”.

Sometimes very distinguished entities try to make a communication and some people become very demanding with the use of the language. For instance, the old African sages, known as “preto velho”, intentionally use words in a wrong way. Many times beings of light use an informal language as a test, because if they are not perceived by their hearts’ vibration they would better not to be received by the excitement of the ego.

To those too worried about what would be told of them if they made public the blessings they received from this new prophet – that is how Jesus was seen, a cult founder and a trouble maker, since every person that creates controversy ends up to bother the accommodated conservatives – Jesus said: “go, present yourself in the temple, tell your people about the graces and wonders that Lord has done to you. This he said to those who had a natural tendency to fear, to be shy.

Therefore, dear Delano Mothé, we have the different guideline rules to deal with different personalities or characters with whom we interact. There is a very good saying in law, in the doctrine or philosophy of law: “treat equals equally and unequals unequally”, a universal principle of the good law and full justice.

I hope I have answered your question…

- Are you satisfied?

- Perfectly, thank you very much.

I feel grateful for your understanding with the communication difficulties of this gray haired, olden, wrinkled teacher – I mean emotionally wrinkled, because we need to always have new standards to reach.

I hope to be able to measure up to the needs and expectations of our friends, but no one should have the expectation of doing so entirely. My intention is only to channel, despite my inherent limitations, the blessings, the wisdom of the higher plan of life, from which I am a very deficient reflector.

Benjamin says it would be better… He’s bothered because I say that he disagreed, like if there was a protest. Disagreement can happen without protest though.

– Don’t you agree, Delano?

– Yes, I do.

We are going to end here and let Benjamin take over and bid farewell to our dear friends.

Your mother, teacher, simply,
Eugenia.

Q: How can we put into practice self-forgiveness without falling into self-pity?

A: We feel in the process of self-indulgence a willingness to gather strength to correct the mistake we realize we have incurred. I repeat: the healthy self-forgiveness is the one which gives us motivation to gather energy to correct the mistake we realize we have incurred. Because the problem with lack of self-forgiveness is that it weakens our emotional forces, forces that would be viscerally and strategically important for us to reconstitute the damaged tissue of our spiritual growth. That is why the absence of self-forgiveness besides indicating absence of self-love and lack of connection with God, becomes counterproductive.

We will realize that self-forgiveness is not self-forgiveness but self-complacency when it becomes a destructive process, when we are too permissive and, instead of feeling enthusiasm and excitement about restarting and rebuilding the direction of our lives, on the contrary, we feel unmotivated and disheartened to change the way we are. At this point there is self-pity, self-complacency, permissiveness with oneself, not self-forgiveness.
