Would you go to a biologist to address particle physics issues? Would you seek advice from a renowned magistrate about your general health?

Very well: this is what is frequently happening among those who declare themselves atheists – they belong to disciplines of knowledge or listen to opinions of authors or speakers who are not prepared to talk about the highly complex, dense and extremely profound theme of the “Existence of Existence” (excuse me the pleonasm, but it is just to give an idea of the absurdity of not accepting the Origin of Everything).

If you are not a person of limited intelligence or do not have a more serious mental disorder, and you call yourself an atheist, you probably suffer from a flaw of concept or information. It is probable (I repeat: if you are a person of average intelligence and mentally sane) that you suffer from a fair reaction against the clergy and dogmatism, due to the abuses committed by organized religions of all cultures and times, even those of today.

In counterpart to the denial of the existence of a Supreme Being, let me object: a very outmoded reply (it remind us of the Enlightenment of the 18th century and not of the multifaceted and immeasurable brightness of the human knowledge of the 21st century), neurotheologians, modern physicists internationally renowned, large factions of depth psychology, such as the transpersonal, the archetypical and the classic analytical psychology, as well as scholars of comparative religion; a significant contingent of parapsychologists and respectable anthropologists and ethnologists, not to mention a good portion of the medical community, specially oncologists and urgent and intensive care unit staff (who deal more closely with the phenomenon of death), millions of critic, clever and highly informed minds, are massively convinced that not only God and the Forces that represent Him/Her exist, as we ourselves are immortal creatures on the way to higher experiences of consciousness, outside the experience of the more condensed matter of our physical bodies.

However, if you prefer to stick with the opinion of the fireman speaking about electricity – which is not very different from historians and sociologists examining atomic physics or nurses treating of civil engineering, the choice, really, is yours, but be sure, nevertheless, that you give a very unpleasant impression of arrogance, ignorance and incoherence, to those who are more lucid, educated and intelligent than you.

Do you feel tired? Take a break, slow down your pace of work, allow yourself more leisure time.

Are you sad? Do something cheerful, try to have fun, take a walk, go to the movies, ask your wife out to a candle-light dinner in a fancy restaurant (or in the backyard).

Are you feeling dull? Focus on activities that cheer you up… dedicate yourself to the activities of your ideal, to faith, to your vocation.

Do you feel involved by forces of the dark? Pray more, meditate. Be kind, forgive, focus your mind on God and on His Emissaries.

Do these suggestions seem too obvious to you? Then, what’s the alternative? Complain? Blame the others? Curse God and doubt his existence?

Do you like to create those complex webs of causation for every question of your life and for life as a whole, enjoying yourself with the imbrications of meaning and consequences of each neurotic nuance along the way?

Ah… so you like good intellectual and emotional masturbations, more than being happy and in peace with yourself and the world. You prefer to think of yourself as smart for seeing everything dark, instead of being wise, finding happiness despite everything…

Stop confusing and entangling yourself in your own thoughts – focus on the results. Try to be practical and seek the well-being of those around you and yours.

By doing this, you will survive your problems. You will solve them, one by one, and more: you will live much happier than you can now imagine.

Ah… you do not want to forgive? Ok, no problem – die of cancer, have a nervous breakdown or suffer from rheumatic arthritis; perhaps, a little of these three options.

To pray is hard? You cannot concentrate? Your faith is weak? Do not pray, then. Deactivate noble regions of neurophysiology of the brain and do not stimulate unique mental powers – which have been used by prominent men and women of all areas of human knowledge and action, in all times and cultures –, such as ESP (Extra Sensorial Perception), intuition, super consciousness and paranormal powers, that numerous studies indicate every human being has, at some level.

It is hard to find time to read, study and get updated, isn’t? All right – remain ignorant and outdated, and expose yourself to the incalculable risk of being uneducated in a world increasingly more complex and confusing, in all senses.

You suffered a lot of deception, you disbelieve everyone and you think you are not going to trust anybody else… “Alright!” It is a life option, yes! Be paranoid, be afraid of your own shadow, do not relax even with your spouse, doubt your children’s love, and do not open yourself to anyone. If possible, lock yourself atop of a tower, in the middle of a desert, to avoid the danger of contact with others’ evil and malice.

Do you believe it is hard to discipline yourself and set goals of temperance for you? It is, also, a choice. So, give yourself over to indiscipline, to all sorts of addiction, and let yourself slip into decadence, self destruction and in the ruin of all power and motivation to manage your own life.

Do you want to give up believing there is a Creator and that there is life beyond matter, just because God does not fit in your head and continuing to exist in another dimension of life sounds too surreal? Although It seems to me very stupid and presumptuous on your part, you have this right: see those you love most and yourself as a handful of molecules accidentally organized, as well as every culture, civilization, purpose and human achievements as abstractions devoided of meaning, and life, in general and completely, like an empty circumstance that could very well be suspended at any time, being missed by no one, as nothingness would be, from now on and forever, the only essence of everything.

In all these options I showed to you, pal, you can choose between being assertive, resolute, lucid and sensible, or abandon good, entrusting yourself to the laziness of evil, that intends to have everything reduced to nothing. At first glance, it always seems more comfortable to renounce the effort of being assertive about good, of edifying it around you and within yourself, than to give yourself over to the convenience of denying it. Yet, it will be only through action, applied in the construction of the best, within and without ourselves, that we will find meaning to live, hope, joy, ideal, love and happiness.

Ponder well what you think is best for you, and live, in the market of personal choices, the free enjoyment of your free will, in the most judicious way within your reach… because, pal, if you opt for the wrong path, others might even suffer the repercussions of your bad decision, but no one will, as much as you, be so squashed by the devastating consequences…
